One Flu over the bird's nest

Not the right time for a remake of the famous film "One Flew over the cuckoo's nest", i guess. In the typical grammatically incorrect way our politicians answer questions, the question on everyone's minds or rather, the answer on everyone's lips is whether the bird flew or not?
As someone proverbially said "Every dark cloud has a silver lining". The silver lining or the juciy filling in this case is that the price of Broiler Chicken, Boiled Chicken, Oiled Chicken and all the other avatars has gone down so steeply, that few smart individuals have moved from being non-vegetarians to being chickenarians.

Their staple diet has changed as follows:
Breakfast : Chicken Wings (a light breakfast) with Chicken soup
Lunch : Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Sag and Butter Chicken with Chick Peas (In the haste of things, some don't realise the truth abt chick peas)
Evening Snacks : Chi'c'kkies (In the haste of ....)
Dinner: Chicken Tikka Masala (India's best contribution to the world), Chicken Korma and Chicken Biryani

Being a vegetarian, I have always wondered abt why people make such a big deal about chicks !!

There are also people who have opted to go in the other direction. People are abstaining from anything non-vegetarian from the belief that if the bird flu, the there is a better probability of it landing on top of a cow or a sheep or a lamb rather than the next-door tomato or brinjal plant. Moreover, their logic is even more strengthened by the fact that a bird can't "flu" into the ground there-by making all the "root vegetables" safe for consumption.

Anyway, here's something for the chickens ...

The week that has been ...

Almost a week since i posted, been busy at work and other things which i don't know about. St Valentine made a cameo on the 14th and our wedding anniversary was on the 15th. The trouble with these 2 days occurring next to each other is that Vidhya expects me to get gifts for both the occasions and different ones, that too. It is very difficult to think of unique gifts for 2 consecutive days. If such occasions occur months apart, probably one can get away with even the same greeting card !

Anyway, Vidhya likes red balloons, or so she told me last weekend, otherwise, how should i have known? Actually, which girl doesn't like red-heart-shaped balloons or anything else supposed to symbolise romance ..uh. Anyway, I got a couple of red-heart-shaped balloons and stuck them in our living room and Vidhya was impressed. Probably, she didn't expect anything more than "Happy Valentine's Day" card from me! But, I was smart and also bought another gift from the same shop, but didn't "release" it on 14th. On 15th, on our wedding day, this was the gift and guess what, Vidhya was impressed. Probably, she just expected me to say "Happy Anniversary".

Destination Cyprus

Undergoing yet another expansion: I have uploaded the opening page of the Cyprus section which will eventually have links/photos describing all the places i have visited and the walks/treks I have done. This will take time as i have been to so many sites, many of which, even my Cypriot colleagues are unaware of :-).
Hoping that the information in these pages will be useful to all the people visiting Cyprus and my colleagues at Amdocs, many of whom feel that there is nothing more to Cyprus than its beaches.

Rang De Basanti - The Review

If
- you are a blogger
- your roots are from India/you are in India

then, it is obligatory that you write a review of the movie "Rang De Basanti". Ofcourse, I want to be accepted in the blogging society and don't want to be branded as an outcast or a rebel. So, here it comes, the one and only review of "Rang De Basanti" from the country of Cyprus( My post is unique in some way as everyone else's!)
---
Rang De Basanti, henceforth referred to as RDB, stars Aamir Khan and few other people. RDB will be a good movie, infact a great movie accompanied by great music. The song "Rubaroo" has been shot very well, particularly the shot of Aamir falling backwards into something. Some of the scenes reminisce the youthfulness of 'Dil Chahta Hai'. Madhavan, though difficult to discern amongst the crowd, it seems, appears in the movie. The first few lines of most of the songs are very catchy in nature. It seems that a "phoren" girl also appears in the movie, dunno where exactly she fits in the movie's plot. Atleast, this is what i could infer from the trailers which appear ever-so-often on B4U. The rest of the review will be after i see the movie!
I just realised that writing "henceforth referred to as RDB" was useless, because i didn't use it even once after that. So, the previous sentence serves its purpose now.

Troodos Trip - contd

More photos from the Troodos Trip. The photo on the right shows Vidhya showing off her "slippery-rock-climbing" skills. The pose she gave just after this moment was the one i missed capturing! The snap with the "log bridge" shows the kind of trekking terrain we had to endure.

My fourth and the best so far ..

Never did i imagine that i would spend an entire weekend reading a novel and that too a 600 page one. The book was simply "unputdownable" (if such a word exists). The book, Angels and Demons, by Dan brown is the fourth ever novel I have read, and the best of the lot. I felt that this was better than "The Da Vinci Code" probably because of the more "scientific" stuff in it and the faster pace.
The book was a great read, much to the chagrin of Vidhya, who felt that inspite of B4U Music not running on TV, I had found a new thing to keep me occupied :-)
This book is one big treasure hunt, with lots of code cracking and real world references. I was trying to compare the references with the pics from my Rome trip, went searching desperately for a one-dollar bill to check his claims ...
If there are more books out there like this, then i have a new hobby in the making ..

Me, Myself and no one else

I don't know anyone called Irene, so I can't title this post as "Me, Myself and Irene". Also, this is going to be about me, so what's the point involving Irene here?
I have decided to undertake the first expansion now, since I am satisfied with the look and feel of the opening page. I have added a "About Me" page. It can be accessed from the profile section on top of the page. You might see many other links to the side of the pages, but those are not yet active. They are placeholders for what i have planned to add in future.
